Sheikh Saif bin Zayed highlighted the distinguishing factors of the UAE, including its foresight, visionary leadership, and the ability to anticipate the future and its challenges. He noted that the UAE has climbed the global competitiveness index and topped key international indicators in a relatively short period in the country's history. His Highness emphasized that the story of the UAE is a story of inspiration, where the leadership's diligent efforts and future-oriented vision have turned challenges into opportunities.
This occurred during the participation of the Emirati official, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, in the main session of the World Government Summit held in Dubai. In the first segment of his speech titled "Inspiration in Zayed's Thought," he stated that the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, his works, achievements, and the saga of success woven with the founding leaders, have inspired the aspiring individuals in the country. They were influenced by the Emirati dream, guided by the approach rooted in facing challenges and embracing both negatives and positives, constructing success stories where difficulties and challenges were overcome, paving the way for remarkable success and contributing to the nation's developmental progress.
He pointed out that the UAE's interest in space sciences and the universe, along with the establishment of the UAE Space Agency, was not a spur-of-the-moment decision. Sheikh Zayed, in his wisdom, carried the responsibility of building both individuals and the nation. His thoughts and heart were filled with numerous and great dreams, limitless aspirations, and he followed the path laid out by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the State, in his belief in knowledge and education, aiming for the UAE to reach the highest levels of progress and advancement.
Sheikh Saif highlighted that the founding leader surpassed his time with wisdom and a future-oriented perspective. He welcomed the Apollo spacecraft team before their journey to the moon in 1974 and after their return in 1976. This groundbreaking initiative, being the first in the region, affirmed the enlightened thinking of the late Sheikh Zayed and his belief in knowledge as a means to achieve success and excellence. On that day, may his soul rest in peace, Sheikh Zayed pledged to himself that the UAE would one day reach the moon and beyond.
Continuing, Sheikh Saif stated that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, drew inspiration from Sheikh Zayed's thinking and his profound visions for the future. This inspiration led to space projects, the Hope Probe, Mars exploration, and the launch of the Khalifa Sat, the first Emirati satellite, in 1974, embodying the technological translation of the founding leader's vision.
Sheikh Saif also highlighted the efforts and projects of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in development. He is recognized as the driving force behind numerous initiatives that reinforce and enhance the country's civilizational achievements, including the adoption of renewable alternative energy projects like the waste-free and carbon-neutral city of "Masdar." These initiatives continue the legacy planted by Sheikh Zayed and serve as inspiration drawn from his noble biography.
Concluding his speech, Sheikh Saif emphasized that the UAE continues to present projects and initiatives that have become global success stories, inspiring millions to seize opportunities amidst challenges. He referred to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's perspective on the global financial crisis in 2008, describing it as an opportunity. Similarly, in the Address Downtown hotel fire incident, Sheikh Mohammed's words underline the importance of belief in one's actions and determination for success. Indeed, Dubai, "the pearl of the world," has been proactive in absorbing regional and international crises, emerging stronger and with faster growth.
