Known as the Father of the Nation for his role in forming the United Arab Emirates, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was the first President of the UAE. He served in this position since the formation of the UAE on 2 December 1971 until he passed away in 2004.

The late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, declared the year 2018 in the United Arab Emirates “the Year of Zayed” as a national occasion held to celebrate the founding leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death. His birth in order to highlight the role of the late man in establishing and building the UAE, in addition to his local and global achievements. This is the year in which Lt.
