Commemoration Day

Martyr's Day in the United Arab Emirates is observed annually on November 30th.

It is a national day dedicated to commemorating the heroic martyrs of the UAE. The day is celebrated by both the Emirati citizens and residents.

In 2015, Martyr's Day was celebrated at the current site of Wahat Al Karama, attended by all seven emirate rulers. The Martyr Medal was presented to the families of the country's brave martyrs as a tribute and recognition of the sacrifices made by the families of the martyrs.

The martyrs of the UAE are not limited to those who have sacrificed their lives within the armed forces but also include all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in various fields, including the military, Ministry of Interior, diplomacy, and national service recruits.

Martyr's Day reflects values of loyalty, sacrifice, and unity for the UAE. 

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said about the martyrs: 

"The UAE and its people are proud to observe Commemoration Day, which celebrates the memory of our heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the UAE and its people in defense of its values and principles. We raise our heads with honour and pride. We draw lessons from their enormous sacrifice for an advanced, resilient and robust nation capable of facing challenges confidently and looking to the future with hope and ambition.”
